Species Index

Species Index: a complete alphabetical list

The SPECIES INDEX list shows the complete list of species recorded in alphabetical order by the common (or English) name but it also has three other features:

1. You can change the order of the list by clicking on other column headings: scientific name, classification and interest level are all sortable.
2. You can use the tabs at the top to just display species within ten groups: for example birds, butterflies, flowers, etc.
3. The filter panels at the top can be particularly useful as not all common names are necessarily what you might expect! The Frog, for example, is recorded as Common Frog and so you need to look under C not F! So, if you enter a few characters of the species you are looking for only species containing (not just starting with) that string of characters will be shown. For example, try keying in n fr and the system returns Common Frog.
