Wareham Forest (Northport Heath)

PeterOrchard's picture

Northport Heath and Gore Hill are two adjacent areas to the south of Wareham Forest, just north or Wareham itself. It is primarily Forestry Commission plantation but these two sites are divided by the lower end of Morden Bog (shown as Decoy Heath on Ordnace Survey Maps) and is a large reed bed. You can access Northport Heath from the car park on the Wareham tp Bere Regis road known as the Sika Trail Car Park. Be warned, this is a popular spot at weekends and a popular spot with dog walks. It is pleasant enough walk but not a lot of nature interest.
