A surprisingly large area of dry heathland that has escaped the development around it and is now part of the Great Heaths Project.

An area noted for wintering sea birds and water fowl but also a key site for many maritime flowers and associated insects.

A haven in an otherwise sparsely wooded landscape and a rich wildlife resource known for its important moth and butterfly populations

Wonderful views and fascinating natural interest, especially butterflies.

Varied walks but especially one along the beautiful River Frome, one of the wonderful Dorset chalk streams.

Part of the much larger Stoborough Heath national nature reserve. It is predominantly wet heathland and has very few well made paths.

A much overlooked RSPB reserve packed with interest, not necessarily for birds but for woodland flora and is especially good for buterflies

The hill upon which the famous Cerne Giant is engraved and is home to chalk grassland and scrub

Wonderful displays of betony and cow wheat in summer with lots of other flowers too including orchids in spring

A large area of heathland lying behind Studland and between the Purbeck Ridge and Poole Harbour. A national nature reserve.

A green hill far away, a haven of peace and calm with a wide range of flowers and insects along with a number of woodland birds.

Note: My records for Greenhill Down include observations made on the bridle way leading to it.

Unvisited Sites:

Here are some other sites of natural interest in the county that, as yet, I have been unable to visit but hope to at some point soon.
