Here is a 'virtual' tour of this site to give you an idea of what to expect if you visit:

Alder Hills is the remains of a clay extraction pit

Nature has recolonised it since the workings were abandoned some time ago

Lots of flowers present as well as insects (inc heath grasshopper)

A well defined path leads around much of the lake area

the sides around the lake are quite steep though and can be a challenge

Although surrounded by houses and industry it is a pleasant place to spend time

On a nice day it is worth the visit just for the reflections!

It was once a DWT reserve but is now looked after by the local authority
