Galls and Deformities
Deciding where to put a series of notes about plant galls and deformities within the very simple structure I have adopted is a tricky business. Most galls are the result of insects (often wasps and flies) laying eggs within a plant which causes a chemical reaction and a swelling or deformity within the plant so perhaps galls should appear within insects? However, given the resulting gall or deformity is visible on the plant may be they should be included under flowering plants? The problem there is that some deformities are caused by fungi! In the end I have decided to include them in 'Fungi, lichen, etc' section. as they are probably best thought of as 'etc'!
